Should I sow by the lunar calendar?
The moon phase is shown next to the weather for interest, but the plan doesn't sow by it: careful field trials have found no reliable effect of the moon on germination or yield. What really decides is the soil temperature, the last spring frost and moisture, and that is what your dates are counted from. Biodynamic gardening (Rudolf Steiner, 1924) has a useful practical side we follow too: no chemicals, compost, mulch, rotation, companions and hedges. Its lunar and zodiac calendar and its preparations are a philosophy, not a proven method. If sowing on «good days» makes you happy, do it: just don't put off a sowing past the right weather for it.
