What is a cover crop?
A cover crop (siderate, green manure) is sown to feed and protect the soil: legumes add nitrogen, roots loosen the ground and the green mass turns into humus. Cut it and work it in 2–3 weeks before planting the main crop. See the Calendar → Cover crops tab to find the right one for each vegetable.
