How to make fertiliser from kitchen scraps?
Kitchen scraps can be pickled instead of rotted. You need a bucket with a tight lid and a tap at the bottom, and bokashi bran (bran with effective microorganisms, sold in garden shops). A layer of scraps, a handful of bran, press down, close; it should smell sour, not rotten (rotten means too little bran). Two weeks after the bucket is full, bury it in a trench in a bed or under a tree and cover with soil: you can plant there 2–4 weeks later. The liquid from the tap is a feed: a tablespoon in 10 litres to water plants, half a glass in 10 litres to soak the soil in spring and autumn. A big family needs 2–3 buckets in turn.
